Customer Review: Great Grinder!
This seems to be a spectacular grinder for the price. I like being able to choose how fine I want it to grind it. It's not too loud either, but naturally, it is not silent! It's fairly clean too and I never make a mess with it, like I've read is the problem with other inexpensive grinders. It has a nice little pour spout so it's easy to just pour it into your coffee filter.
Customer Review: works fine, but not for espresso grind
Owned this for a few months to replace a similar product purchased at Walmart a few years ago. Like most of the rest on the market, it will grind your beans, it will make a little bit of a mess with your grinds, it will NOT grind fine enough for good espresso. Adequate performance from a bottom of the line product.

List Price: $299.99
Amazon Price: $198.94
Customer Review: excellent grind, easy to use, worth the cost
Have used cheap burr grinders, and they were little better than blade grinders. This is a big step up, in terms of consistency of the grind, ease of use (the glass container really helps). Make French press more than espresso, but it works for both, and if you really need to, the burrs can be adjusted. Definitely recommended.
Customer Review: Has issues that should be addressed
When is works it is an outstanding burr grinder, however, with 240 pounds of beans through the machine, about half of the recommended usage before new burrs, it has developed a irritating quirk. The coffee beans become impacted within the body of the grinder, and only by disassembling the components does it become functional again. It appears the body throat is too narrow. Messy it is, which creates waste.

Rancilio Rocky Doserless Espresso And General Purpose Coffee Grinder

The Rocky Doserless Grinder is one of the markets best built home and light commercial coffee grinders for the money. With a body weight of 17 pounds (with the motor making up 11.5 of those pounds), its brushed stainless steel housing, and heavy-duty plastic accessory components, there is no doubt that the Rocky is one of the toughest grinders in its class: Because of its tough build and performance, but reasonable price, the Rocky is a popular choice for cafes and restaurants that need a medium duty primary grinder or a first line decaffeinated beans grinder. Its wide range of grinding options can convert coffee beans to anything from uniform coarse grinds to fine powder. This quality grinding is crucial for home, as well as high-end and commercial espresso machines and it's a dream for the espresso connoisseur. With so many settings, you can adjust the Rocky to very exact specifications. . Detailed Product Features . Commercial Quality Grinding Burrs . There is no mistaking the 50mm grinding wheels for anything but professional quality. Made of hardened, tempered steel and engineered in a precision cutting tooth design, the Rocky has both perfected a uniform, consistent grind as well as ensured long wear. Should you eventually need to replace them, they are simple to remove: Convenient Direct Dosing System . Unlike the original Rancilio Rocky Doser Grinder, this model allows you to dispense fresh ground coffee directly into your filter basket (in your espresso machine portafilter), as well as a filter basket for a drip coffee maker. This design makes the Doserless Rocky Grinder an excellent general purpose coffee grinder because you are not limited by a dosing hopper. Simply put, you can grind your coffee beans and dispense the grounds directly into any container you wish: Coffee Bean Hopper . The Rocky has a modest sized bean hopper to allow it to fit under most kitchen cabinets. This 10-oz hopper is made of light blue tented, molded plastic. .
Customer Review: The rocky mostly rocks
This is my first burr grinder to go with my first home espresso machine the Rancilio Silvia (I've worked in a few espresso places over the years so am familiar with commercial machines). the grinder works very well and can create whatever grind you will need from espresso to french press. In terms of grinding performance I'd give it ***** , however overall it has a few design features that are lacking: 1) beans get stuck in the screw holes inside the bean hopper/holder- so that you have to turn the grinder upside down and whack it to get the stuck beans out. I've read you can stick cut up pieces of foam earplugs into the holes- pretty cheesy. 2) the chute the ground coffee goes through is blue plastic. ugly, and I understand it can crack and break over time, stainless steel would seem better here 3) grounds spill out of the portafilter while filling regardless of technique. I think this may just be the way it is because you need to fill the portafilter slightly heaping prior to tamping. the placement of the removable portafilter holder seems a big high, forcing more grounds to spill, I'm finding I often use it without the holder. So, I'd buy it again, but wish it was designed a bit bigger. It seems absurdly expensive, but I don't know what to compare it to and it seems to work very well.
Customer Review: A bit spendy, but...
...it's worth it! This is a SOLID machine that has a commercial feel. All the experts recommend spending at least as much on your grinder as you do on your espresso maker. Considering most $300 espresso makers are not that great, the Rocky is actually a a money-saving investment. (OK, I know that's not totally logical, but it can help take some of the sting out of paying $500+ for an espresso machine...) Personally, I use a stovetop espresso maker and have found the Rocky produces excellent grinds for it. Most users probably won't need to use even a fraction of the settings on the dial (*really* is there that much of a difference between 18 and 19 when you have 40 grind settings?), however, if you buy lots of different kinds of beans, this can come in handy. The only improvement I might suggest is to make the top of the bean hopper seal more tightly. I think it lets in too much air, so I rarely fill it all the way up. Win by TKO!

Toastmaster Coffee Grinder

Stainless steel blades. Easy access cord storage. Great for making flavored coffees. 2-ounce capactiy for 12 cups of coffee.
List Price: $15.00
Amazon Price: $15.00
Customer Review: Does the job
Affordable, compact, and does the job. Thanks to all of those who recommended this product.
Customer Review: Not worth the money at any price
I purchased this to replace a worn out bean grinder that I had for well over 5 years. This unit is very loud for it's size. I have used much larger commercial units that make less noise. The lid is to small to hold grinds for a full pot of coffee and seems to constantly develop static resulting in the coffee grounds sticking to the lid. The blades are elevated approximately 1/2 inch from the bottom of the grind chamber causing the coffee grounds to become packed under the blade assembly requiring that you dislodge them from the unit.

Cuisinart DCG-20BK Coffee Bar Coffee Grinder, Black

With Cuisinart's handsome, compact coffee grinder, it's easy to always have fresh coffee made to exact specifications. It has a 2-1/2-ounce capacity--enough for 12 cups of coffee. The grinder's clean lines and teardrop shape make it easy to hold, and it runs with the push of a button. To use, simply measure coffee beans into the bowl, replace the lid, and hold down the button until the coffee is ground to the desired consistency. Both the bowl and blades are made of stainless steel. Unplug the grinder when it's not in use--the cord can be stored in the base of the unit. --Jennifer Harris
List Price: $40.00
Amazon Price: $19.99
Customer Review: Excellent equipment
I am very satisfied with this Cuisinart product. Not only is the color great, but the rpm is slower than other grinders, making it much quieter. The metal reservoir is of higher quality and all of the ground coffee easily tumbles into the lid. I would recommend this product to everyone.
Customer Review: Unit is a Joke - Leaves Grinds EVERYWHERE
The engineers at Cuisinart must have taken the week off when this was designed, because it operates as if it was created by a child. Despite two weeks of daily use, I have yet to come up with a way to use this grinder and transfer the contents to my coffee filter without spilling coffee grounds EVERYWHERE. If I am lucky enough to get the grinds into my coffee maker without much mess, a new mess is created each and every time I replace the cap on the unit. Having to flip the entire unit to access the fresh grounds is a preposterous design. When I unpacked the unit (received as a gift) I thought a piece was missing - nope, it's just a terrible design. When I'm drowsily getting ready in the morning the last thing I want to do is fight gravity with a backwards product. A few other gripes: Unit's box says '12 Cup Capacity', which is strange because later in the instructions it clearly tells you that to avoid excess spillage, that you need to grind no more than 4 cups worth (8 ounce cups) of beans. False advertising! The way the power 'button' is designed, there is no way it will hold up to repeated use. Static charge mentioned by a few other reviewers is a definite problem; without it you would have a far better chance of replacing the cap after emptying without spilling additional grounds on your countertop. All in all, I don't care how well this grinder may actually grind beans because I am too busy cleaning up my countertop each and every morning.

Bosch MKM 6003 UC Coffee Grinder, Black

The Bosch brand's reputation for excellence dates back to 1886, when Robert Bosch founded Robert Bosch GmbH as a precision-tool and engineering workshop in Stuttgart, Germany. Today, Bosch makes a wide variety of tools, kitchen appliances, and more. The company's MKM 6000 coffee grinder is both powerful and lightweight, and will provide you with the great taste (and aroma) that only fresh-ground coffee brings to the table. It stands 6-3/4 inches high and features a 3-ounce capacity, stainless-steel blades, and an easy-to-use push-button operating system--just put the beans in, put the lid on, and push the button. The transparent lid lets you see the beans being ground, and the machine's slanted basket design makes the coffee swirl as it's being ground, so the end result is an even grind (which translates into better coffee). --A.J. Rathbun

Customer Review: low profile blade = great for spices
I have had my Bosch grinder for over ten years. I cook frequently. I have also worked in the restaurant industry for over 25 years. (and most of the great kitchens I have worked in have a Bosch) The manufacturing precision, the angled grinding bed, etc all make for a great machine, but it is the low profile of the blade that makes this particular model ESSENTIAL for the home cook/chef. Look around the next time you are in Williams-Sonoma, or Target, and notice how far the blades of all other grinders sit from the grinding bed. The low profile blade means you can grind smaller batches of spices...e.g. cumin seed, or coriander seed, or fennel seed, esp. mustard seed are all very small seeds...so a low profile blade = smaller batches= less waste. Having ground spices sitting around just lets the flavor dissipate, which is why one wants a spice grinder in the first place. Buy the Bosch!
Customer Review: The best grinder I've ever had....But.
I used this guy for nearly a year and it performed flawlessly (I even had to use it to make powdered sugar out of regular sugar and it did it in seconds, seriously)...But the lid got dropped, from about waist level, it cracked..A month or so later it got dropped again and split in half.. I can deffinitely recommend this grinder of you're very careful and don't drop the lid...It's the only cheap thing about it.
